Marriage in Islam is built on more than a ceremony. It is a lifelong commitment rooted in worship, character, and mutual responsibility.
Couples are encouraged to reflect on:
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“The best of you are those who are best to their families.” (Jamiʿ al-Tirmidhi)
A nikah is the Islamic marriage contract between a bride and groom. It is a sacred commitment built on faith, responsibility, mercy, and mutual care.
In Islam, marriage is not only a personal relationship, but also a spiritual bond and social responsibility. Allah describes marriage as a source of tranquility, affection, and mercy between spouses (Qur’an 30:21).
At ISF, nikah ceremonies are conducted according to Islamic guidelines in a respectful and welcoming masjid setting.
To help ensure the nikah is performed properly, ISF follows Islamic guidelines for marriage eligibility and ceremony requirements.
Common requirements include:
ISF provides an Islamic marriage certificate/document after the nikah ceremony.
A wali is the Islamic guardian who represents and supports the bride during the nikah process.
For many Muslim women, the wali is usually the father or another qualified male guardian. For new Muslims, reverts, or those without a Muslim guardian, ISF can provide guidance on the appropriate Islamic process.
A nikah requires two Muslim witnesses. Witnesses should be present at the ceremony and understand the importance of their role in confirming the marriage contract.
If needed, ISF may help coordinate witnesses.
ISF offers nikah ceremonies at the masjid. The ceremony is performed by the ISF Imam or an outside imam with ISF approval and coordination.
A typical nikah includes:
Advance scheduling with ISF is required to hold the nikah ceremony.
ISF welcomes and supports new Muslims and reverts who are preparing for marriage.
