Know the History of the Islamic Society of Frederick

Located in the heart of Frederick, Maryland, the Islamic Society of Frederick (ISF) has grown from a few families in the early 1990s into a vibrant community serving hundreds of families today. Guided by the Qur’an and the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, ISF provides religious, educational, and community services while fostering understanding, compassion, and connection within the Frederick community and beyond.

Goals of ISF

  • Strengthen faith, character, and Islamic values within the Muslim community.
  • Support Muslims in contributing positively to society and the broader community.
  • Foster cooperation, understanding, and respectful relationships with people of all faiths.
  • Promote a safe, productive, and compassionate community free from crime, substance abuse, and discrimination.

How ISF Serves the Community

  • Organizing seminars, lectures, khutbahs, educational programs, social activities, and sports grounded in the teachings of Islam.
  • Building bridges through interfaith dialogue, outreach, and collaboration with other faith communities.
  • Providing Islamic education for children and youth through Sunday School and other learning programs.
  • Maintaining daily prayer services and hosting Jumu‘ah prayers each week.
  • Celebrating Eid gatherings and community-wide events throughout the year.
  • Supporting individuals and families through charitable giving, including the collection and distribution of Zakat and Sadaqah.
